Dear All,
Ceramics has always been in our lives and has always been close to us as a
familiar material since the ancient times. To me, creating things from earth requires myself to start by projecting nature itself inside me to help my five physical senses to
work.
Murakumo district, where I settled my own kiln, is located in the
far-eastern
part of Sasayama, Hyogo prefecture. Here the good old scenery of Japan lies
in the rural farming village. Living in Murakumo, I feel that I am surrounded by a huge world when I touch and discover colors, smells, or sounds in the passage of seasons.
Nowadays, I think that uniqueness of ceramics that is beyond a certain range- the
range of region or tradition- could only be found inside myself. This is because I have tried many times to look for the enchantment of earth itself, and through this I am coming back to
use the primitive way. This may seem simple but is actually a profound way and with it I am working forwards and backwards reflecting myself.
I hope that this website will help communicate my thoughts to
you.
